Of Change In Japan 1884-1934

Started Illustration In 1905 

Won After He Won A Competition 

By The Magazine Chugakusekai

Owned By Hakubunkan, 

One Of Japan's Leading Publishing Companies.

 It Was At This Time That He Adopted The Name Yumeji.

He Fit In With His Socialist Ideals,

His Earliest Work Was Featured In The Socialist 

And Anti-War Heimin Shinbun Journal Chokugen. 

 After the High Treason Incident, 

A Socialist-Anarchist Plot 

To Assassinate Emperor Meiji In 1910, 

Being Arrested And Questioned For Three Days.

He Changed His Views.

Much Of His Early Work Was His Wife,

 Tamaki Kishi Who Was A Manager

 Of A Postcard Shop. 

The Two Opened A Business To Sell 

His Illustrations And Postcards.
